covid-19
Covid brought many new challenges. The biggest challenge was how to create profit and maintain fan engagement without spectators at our two televised competitions, Skate America and U.S. Figure Skating Championships. We accomplished this by allowing fans to purchase fan cutouts at the event and a virtual fan experience web site.

FAN CUTOUTS

Our first challenge was working with a local printer in Las Vegas to create fan cutouts. I worked with the printer to determine print material and size and then came up with instructions for submitting photos. On the backend, I managed receiving, setting up and sending files to the printer. I also worked with customers on missing orders, photo adjustments and other inquires. Ultimately, we raised over $200,000 that went back to athlete programs and scholarships.

For our second event, U.S. Championships, I came up with an additional option to increase revenue. Since we weren't able to send customers their cutouts after the event, I came up with an idea to offer digital photos of cutout(s) taken with the new U.S. Champions for an additional cost. Logistically, there isn't time after the event for the champions to pose with so many cutouts. My solution was to order five brightly colored blank cutouts that would be staged with the champions. I think created an action in Photoshop that allowed me to easily create over 200 digital photos within two days. I also used special textures and lighting to make them appear genuine. This raised an additional $48,000.
We also created special photos for the title sponsor, Guaranteed Rate.
Below are images of the staged photos and a sample of a final piece.

FACE MASKS
We also created branded face masks for adult and youth. I worked with our vendor and factory in Taiwan to get these created. These were sold online and in sets of 10 to rinks and clubs.
